Amplifier Rebias - $55 excluding GST
With this service we will ensure that the amplifier is biased for optimal performance.
This service is made up of the following tasks;
- Power output measurement of the amplifer before retubing (unless tubes are not operating)
- Installation of new tubes and warm-up
- Bias set to standard operating point
- Power output measured
- Bias adjusted over a standard range of settings whilst measuring power output
- Bias set to optimal point, tone tested and tweaked if required.
- Production of test report showing power before and after the service and the optimal bias point for maximum power output
Any tubes used to retube the amp will be in addition to this fee. Note that it may be necessary to swop output tubes to get the amp to the correct bias point without modification and to produce the rated power output.
Amplifier Power Supply Capacitor Replacement - $75 Excluding GST and capacitors
This involves replacing all of the amplifier power supply capacitors. This work should be done every ten years in a well maintained amplifier. This is to prevent the power supply capacitors from drying out (which they inevitably do) and degrading the amp performance or causing it to stop working.
JJ high quality Electrolytic capacitors are used wherever possible for this job and are charged in addition to the labour charge listed above.
Basic Amplifier Refurbishment - $110 excluding GST
This service includes the tasks performed in the amplifier rebias service, plus the following;
- Cleaning, de-oxidising and lubricating of all jacks, sockets (including the valve sockets), potentiometers and switches (including the power connectors)
- Preserving agent applied to ensure long term electrical performance and protection from destructive contaminants
- All solder joints visually inspected and any dry joints and suspicious connected re-soldered or re-fixed
- All fittings tested for tightness and tensioned as required
Full Amplifier Refurbishment - $ 185 excluding GST
This service includes all of the above services (re-bias, replace power supply capacitors and basic refurbishment) excluding parts.
These services may take up to five hours and can normally be turned around in 48 hours. Amplifers must be dropped off to take advantage of these services.
